PetaPixel: There are 6 Photographer ‘Types’: Which One are You?

Interesting article, so I've created a poll here.

On my free time, I feel like a little bit of all of them
But for my real estate side-gigs I guess I'm a Director (?)

Hah, depends on what day it is! I guess I feel most at home is the description of the Explorer, but with varying doses of the Hunter/Gatherer and Anarchist, and maybe at times the Sportsman, all depending on mood, time and place.

I don't at all fit into the Director and Illustrator bags. The little I have delved into the world of the Illustrator has been of curiosity, to see if i'm able to do such things. If I have the ability I definitely don't have the patience to do it well.

Explorer with some leanings toward Illustrator Lite.

Defintely director, at least mostly as a pro, but am something of an anarchist when on my own time, which is all the time these days.

Usually anything but an Anarchist, and rarely a Director - but none of the descriptions really fit.

Well... like most of us, I fall a bit into each category. But for purposes of the poll, a primarily fall into the Sportsman and Explorer categories.

Based on the definitions in the article, my time with a camera in hand is about equally spilt between Hunter Gatherer, Sportsman, and Explorer. Definitely not any of the others.

The same here, but maybe a bit of the others thrown in here and there. Mostly Explorer, but even a bit of Anarchist slips in.
I agree that none really fits, which means there must be more than 6 types, right?

How does the accumulation of numbers in the Postscript "drop you into a category" ? What if they're all "3"?

As I read the article, I would usually react with, "yeah, that's me about X% of the time, except for that part which I never do" for almost each entry. I set the poll up so two choices could be selected, and I picked "Hunter/Gatherer" and "Anarchist" because I'm not very technical about setting up shots (ie, not a Sportman or Director) and I don't like to spend tons of time in post (ie, def. not an Illustrator). I do basic planning, try to limit to themes (ie, 52Frames project, weekly assignment material, imposing self-limitations wrt gear or technique). Of course, I've never earned a single cent off photography.
