Back into the local woodland for me. This months video I photograph a local winter woodland with its winter colour, bare branches and dormant trees with their spiny branches looking like arms outreached to the snow bearing skies above. Join me as I look for the beautiful winter woodland images to be had in my local woodland and discover unique winter woodland imagery on my doorstep. Do let me know your favourite image, my personal fav is titled "Forget Me Not"

This guy is my biggest inspiration for light painting. He does run his own light painting tools online store, so most of his videos feature them, but the techniques he describes are useable for anything. One of my "tools" is literally a small plastic Coke bottle with the top cut off to fit it over my flashlight, with various colored cellophane type sheets I put in it. This specific video shows how he created one of my favorite photos.

I've used colored paper, colored cellophane, and even professional gels, along with repurposed flashlights and lamps for lightpainting, but the fiberoptic wand really caught my attention, I'll have to look at his site more closely. The idea of using a sheet to split lighting sources and subjects was a really good one to try out as well.

That fiberoptic wand is one heck of a tool, and he has a couple styles. The one in that video only lit the tips. Another one he offers illuminates the entire fiber length. He also sells some color specific tools, or you can get the basic white ones and color them with gels or his color filter attachments. When I asked him if there was any benefit of having color specific tools, it boils down to if you want to save money (only white tools plus color filters) or the convenience of quicker tool changes during an exposure.

Not sure if this is a good place to post this, but I found this review on YouTube for the Helios 44-2 58mm to be very well done!

Considering it is a lens review, it might fit better here.

Yes it is a lens review but also a YouTube channel, I wouldn't be offended if you ask the mods to move it, but it is YouTube related!
Cheers

I've been enjoying Daniel Minor's channel for a few months. HE is usually more visual than verbal, but here his words really resonate with my own love of travel, photography, and human interest.

We all can relate to this dilemma
