One of my "tools" is literally a small plastic Coke bottle with the top cut off to fit it over my flashlight, with various colored cellophane type sheets I put in it.
I've used colored paper, colored cellophane, and even professional gels, along with repurposed flashlights and lamps for lightpainting, but the fiberoptic wand really caught my attention, I'll have to look at his site more closely. The idea of using a sheet to split lighting sources and subjects was a really good one to try out as well.
