Do you set the date and time on your cameras?

l never bother to set them back an hour for the 4 months out of the year we're not on daylight saving time. lf it's 1 hour off who cares? But when l notice them drifting more than about 10 minutes l'll set it. Because if l never set them they would drift several hours if l let them go long enough. However, l always want the date to be correct.

Yes. On my Pentax DSLRs it's just a matter of ticking the DST box.

Yes. If I remember to do so. I check my cameras before going on vacation and usually do set the time then. I am surprised, as I have no issues with the time drifting away so much.

Need to check the drift on the KP, but on my K-5 it is negligible. The K1 has GPS time.

Don't need to, because of the GPS time-sync feature on the K-3II.

Yes 'cause I don't always use the GPS feature on the K-3 II or the K-1.

I used to shoot live music professionally, often with several bodies going at once. If the time stamps on each image weren't right, editing the final album was a nightmare.

So yeah, I set the time and date regularly. To the second. Old habits die hard.

I’ll admit I’m a bit anal and always try to have the correct time/date on my all devices.

One of my pet hates is the flashing “12-00” of unset clocks on microwave ovens or vcr machines (anyone remember those!).

Yes, the time can be a great memory jogger, especially if you want to go back to a location. It’s very frustrating, as Sandy said, if you are shooting two cameras and the time is off.!

Yes I always make sure my cameras (K 1 & K 5) have the right time. I also have a destination time set as well. I spend the summers in a different time zone so I just press the destination button when I change. I also change the time when I travel. Most of my work is related to nature photography, when a shot of a particular animal or bird was taken can be very important.

I never ever waste my time for it. I expect it will show time the worker set at production in Japan, but I didnot know because I never checked it.

I set it to "GPS time" and leave it there. So it's always on GMT, even though I'm in CET most of the time.

Well I don't do the live shooting but yes, I always correct the time standard or day-light savings on all my cameras. However, I didn't realize that my K-1 has that feature, which was set on, on my camera....gonnna have to read the manual again.

Its the same on canoe trips. After a few weeks in the bush you don't remember where each shot was taken. We often take 3 or 4 cameras. One has a GPS, the others are kept in sync with it. When we say a picture was taken on a specific lake, we know 100%, by looking at the time on the exposure and comparing with exposures taken with the K-1 and GPS.

Before this process, I had trip reports posted with incorrect locations. And just like the Pentax forum, if you say something wrong on the canoe forums, 10 people will correct you.
