Depending where you are, it might not be safe or diplomatic to stay in one place. It might be OK in a tourist spot or a park, but there are plenty of places in the UK (probably the majority) where hanging around can invite trouble. You could even be charged with Loitering with Intent or something similar. If you are taking candid shots, asI have done in London wholesale markets like Smithfields and Borough, it is best not to hang around after a shot - some of those market guys are touchy about photos.

There are always possible risks and knowing local laws and customs, as well as being alert and able to sense the mood of people in a scene is important.
