That must be a new record for a K1000

In a local online marketplace here (Kijiji), sellers are asking very high prices for K1000's and other 'vintage' cameras. Even old plastic run-of-the-mill point-and-shoots (film or digital) CAD $80-100 and up! Sometimes the high prices are justified with "Paid $495 when new and have all the papers" (including original receipt).

Of course, there are the usual listings of Vivotor, Pantex, Sportmatics, Ashai, Canon Rabels, and 'telescopic' lenses. Or the similar pictures of the lot neatly laid out on the floor, taken from eye level.

Anyways, not intending to sneer at the sellers, but it makes for an amusing daily scan of the ads.

• K1000 body, check
• 50mm f/2 standard lens, check
• Sunpak flash, check
• Vivitar 80-200mm zoom, check
• Scruffy camera bag, check

What the "serious" photographer had back in the eighties - only the third party 28mm is lacking. I was there, but I marched to different drummer. My initial kit was an LX with SMC Pentax M 28/2.8, 50/1.7, 100/2.8 and 200/4 primes.

Often lenses are listed as "rare". Lmao. Also the fb search sucks. Search pentax and half of the results are nikon, cannon etc. Amusing is right.

And then there's all the listings that only show stock images, or sealed boxes advertised as "new" (I don't trust any seal on the second hand market), or claims of being tested and working.

My mistake - it's not a sunpak. It's kalimar t-56. Only one though. Dang-it.

Once again, I am amazed by the high values that used Samsung NX cameras command. An NX500 with rubbish acceptable quality kit lens for only GBP1300. Wow!

Having had a quick scan of some of his stock, I would suggest that most of it is 'optimistically' priced. His 100% feedback must apply to sold items - I wonder how many there were.
