If it's in good shape, that's actually not too bad. Stupid expensive yes but some people will pay it. The owner probably went to a site like "bringatrailer . com" and saw what they're bringing at auction.. A mint condition, restored '86 Corolla GTS went for over $30,000.

An 86 is not an 88. The 86 is famous in pop culture and is rear wheel drive. A 1988 model is front wheel drive and has no such prestiege. The one he was listing was worth 1500 tops, and that's in this market.

ah... I knew they changed from RWD to FWD around then but didn't know exactly when. The Celica (which I'm more familiar with as I had a few) went FWD in '86 and down hill from there.

I think the Celica only went down hill after they stopped offering the AWD All-Trac models. I own a 93 ST Celica and would love to get the All-Trac version of it some day.

Auto sometimes means auto aperture (only) on older equipment, before autofocus came on the market.
The mount seems pretty ’naked’, hence no k-mount with contacts.
Might be M42 with the pin for the aperture...? Hard to judge from pictures.
The 3x teleconvertor is probably also older generation style, corresponding with m42 era.

Remains overpriced...

I have found third party 2x converters are not worth it. These days you are much better off cropping the image in post processing.

A third party 3x converter from the screw mount era must be pretty ghastly very interesting indeed....

Thanks for replying. Yes, that is m42 screw mount, with the aperture pin. However, the write-up clearly states 'Autofocus' (or did, I have not checked to see if a correction has been made).

Sunpak DX Flash Modules
.
Oddly, it seems cheaper to buy small accessories on Ebay if they are attached to a main item than buying them separately.

I have several Sunpak flash units in the DX Series (1990-2000 vintage) and they require a camera brand dedication module. Two of my units came from Ebay with Nikon and Ricoh modules, so I have been looking for Pentax ones. These modules cost about £10 back when new. But this guy wants nearly £70 for one! Ffordes (dealer in Scotland) wants £17 for a Pentax one and £13 for a Nikon one (why cheaper??), used of course, and even those have been unsold on Ebay for about six months now.

I have some old price lists and have a general rule not pay more for a used item than it cost new - unless it was the first Leica ever made or some such.

Meanwhile I have bought several Sunpak flash units complete with DX modules for only £5-£10 (second picture). I don't think some sellers are even aware that the module is separable.

BTW, it's funny how much stuff on Ebay is "opened but never used". What happened back then? Did someone think they bought a diamond ring but a Sunpak module was in the box instead? ............. And, they said to themselves "Never mind, I'll sell it on Ebay in 30 years time".

My purchase of a unit with attached Pentax module :

Old Sunpak GX8R Ring Flash - £85
.
Why pay less? And they can't even get the photo the right way up.
These units generally go for under £20. This model was superseded by the DX8R and I got one of those for £10.

For only USD1250, you can have a camera from a dead brand. But wait there is more! It comes with a motley bunch of old junk fine collection of vintage lenses.

Maybe the silvery Russian lens justifies the price of the whole bundle ...? 🤔

Is this a record for a AF280T ? They are OK-ish but not that wonderful.

I saw a mint one on Ebay recently and got it for £9.99. I then sold my previous mint-minus one for £25, which is about the usual price.
