Does anyone know what time it is?

I had a dead camera body and lens, and a little too much time on my hands, so I made this for my son.

I have two more dead bodies like this, so if anyone has a dead lens like these, let me know. I would prefer the shorter zooms, I think it would look more balanced.

Clever idea, most of these that I have seen just have the clock in the mount. Sorry, I don't have any donor lenses, but those plastic silver zooms should be easy to come by.

Do they sell the clocks by millimeter size?

I used an inside micrometer to get the diameter I needed and started googeling. I found a number of them that gave the measurements in both metric and standard. Do a search for "clock insert". You can find many different ones that range from 1 7/8 up to 3.5 inches. But only one with a black surround.

That's for sure. Now you know why I want a shorter lense. lol

I also have a few comparable Minolta Maxxum 5's, etc, that I want to do the same thing with. So more dead lenses needed.

OK, that's a pretty cool concept. I'd have to decide whether or not some half-functional gear from the 1960s could be sacrificed for the creation for a nifty conversation piece.

I have been thinking about a classic bodied version as well. For the lense, I would probably target a third party with heavy fungus or already broken glass.

And the camera body does not necessarily need to be a damaged one. I can still remove the lense I modified with it's factory mount.

Does it make a difference if it's a fast or a slow lens?

That's awesome! Great work! But, from the thread title I thought this was going to be about the hit song by the group Chicago.
