It rained the day before closest conjunction with clouds for the day-of and day after. My K-1 and 850mm lens+TC were waiting for a cloud break that never came.

Nearby friends had better luck with the clouds:

Here was one of my better ones. This just from the jpg, cropped to 800 x 600, then denoised the jpg artifacts, adjusted curves to give a blacker background, resized to 1200 x 900, and then unsharp mask.
Shot with K20D + SMC Pentax (K) 400/5.6 @ f/8

That's quite nice John!

I had some time today to process the shots I took on the next day (Dec/22) where the seeing was still not really good but better than on Dec/21. The planets were not as close to each other as the previous day (thus "Great-ish Conjunction" title).
This is a stack of 88 frames out of 681 I ended up making. Pentax Q7 and Orion Space Probe 3 (700mm f/9.2), ISO 200, 1/15 sec (i.e. 5.9 sec total exposure).
