And around here when people hear that they say "what?"

I may be of Scottish descent, but Gaelic wasn't handed down. And I've got gas fireplace with no chimney.
Happy New Year

“Huh?” was pretty much our family reaction to my thoroughly Scottish father in law his first holiday season in the States. He had already made a good dent in his supply of Laphroig, and then he came out with the “Lang may yer lum reek” and had our son - age 10(ish) - do the First Foot thing.

So a Happy 2021, Good Riddance to 2020, and everyone yell “Jumanji!” To make sure the curse is broken!

Normally, I'd be miffed and maybe a bit steamed if someone wanted my "lum" to "reek." Sounds like a curse or an insult!

But knowing old Kerrowdown -- a fine Scootish gentlemen, photographer of the first order, and Pentaxian extraordinaire -- I wish to return his New Year's Greeting with a wish to him and all of PF that all "yer ISOs be low, yer 'ladies' have snappy apertures, and yer whites be balanced!"
