What a great find for Victor Galusca, and kudos to him for taking on such a time-consuming project. It was worth the effort. Thanks for posting, Kris

An admirable effort put into preserving negatives which for sure deserve it.

I remember reading about his work a couple of years ago. I'm really glad he managed to finally finish his project.

One of our poets said that "Eternity was born in a village/the countryside". These photos prove it time and time again.

By the way, Azopan Photoarchive has a huge collection of scanned photos if you are interested.

The archive is very interesting too and a quick look confirms how Cusnir's work, with his unique staged-but-alive style, stands out.

Fantastic collection, probably some of the best shots I have seen from a Lubitel 2.

Everybody probably notice, still I would like to remind that he used medium (120) camera, like this Lubitel 2 · Lomography Shop Such a soviet cameras had good optics. My coworker recently brought from Kiev his old camera similar to that. He showed me pictures of Golden Gate bridge taken with it. Very good: sharp and contrast.

I have and occasionally use a Lubitel 2 and it does indeed have good optics. The viewfinder is really difficult to use, however, and I find myself using ISO 400 film and stopping right down. What impressed me with these images is that they have a nice shallow DoF but are pretty well focused. Quite an achievement with the Luby.

Truly amazing - and his intake of 'horizontal lubricant' does not appear to have afffected his photographic abilities ! I wonder how many other treasure troves such as this have been destroyed by those who described them as 'worthless garbage' ? Although I suppose the photographer's daughter may not have been happy with evidence of how life was before the USSR was dissolved.

If you follow up the story to Instagram you can see that the chap has tracked down some of the original "models" and taken their photo holding a copy (often a laptop) of the original.

Very poignant. Some striking shots. You find yourself imagining the lives of these people.

After reading the article I came to conclusion that GAS is relatively mild side-effect of our hobby
