Originally posted by trixtroll The trick there is look like you belong. You’d be amazed at how easy it is to walk into places when you have an orange vest, hard hat, and a clip board.
Originally posted by AggieDad Mooncatt – You might want to use my yellow safety vest ploy. A high-visibility safety vest allows you to be almost invisible. You can go many places with no problem. I wander around railroad yards and often gets nods of hello, but no questions. Add a hard hat (dirty, not shiny new) and it is like you have a passport.
Around where I live (near Washington D.C.), that outfit might get you shot - the proper attire for abandoned factories would be mud in the hair with a suitably ragged pair of pants held up with a rope and a badly stained shirt with boots that don't fit correctly. Then, everyone will think you belong there, just one of the local residents.
