first inning Báez reached first on fielder's choice then steal attempt to second and ended up at third as ball went into center field on error

just returned from long trip to the GC

haven't had time to check photos

did see with the Mark 1 eyeballs and store in the original memory bank a rare sight - not one but two California Condors soaring above the South rim
. . . unfortunately I had the wrong equipment on the K 10d and the K 1 II to get useable photos so I hope that others will give credit without photos

I was expecting landscapes not one of the rarest birds around . . .

Practice Hint

" never give up, never surrender "

at least not until you check photos on the bigger home lap top as opposed to the 13 inch travel lap top

not the highest quality photo I must admit but sufficient to show that I didn't imagine the California Condor overflying the South Rim of the GC when I was there

A BW conversion of the bird photos might pull out some more detail.
Also, Topaz Sharpen and Gigapixel can do some amazing things with extreme crops.

I think he was just too far away but you know what, I think the first one, cropped into a Pano format and just tweak the contrast and the saturation is a pretty cool shot. I think its still obvious it's an exotic bird of prey too.

Ah well, you need an aim for that, like this shot. Not bad, personally speaking, I'd keep a 50/50 land/sky split, not so heavy on the tweaking, more pastel but....It's your shot, so to your taste, after all you got the shot of the rare Condor in the Grand Canyon.

lesson learned: take the photo, you may get lucky

if you don't take the photo, no way will you get the photo you want

First the lessons are worth what you are paying for them... LOL.

Second - That's tough. I like A better but the washed out top of the cloud and the off the top of the frame light seems to detract from it. Maybe a slight drop in the light in that part of the frame would work? I like the extra sky space as it accentuates that this is a bird with the mastery of the sky. Also rule of thirds - which I didn't think of until I went back and looked again. The bird/canyon in the lower 1/3rd of the frame is nicer than 50/50 split.

Honestly this is one of those shots you could post to the PP threads and let many people have a go. It could be done many ways.
