Just wondering why there is not many prime lens (all brands) between the focal length 60~ 85 mm. I know there a few like Pentax 77mm or others but if you compare with like 85 ~ 100mm, there are much more prime lens in this range. Is it because of field of view from 60~ 85 mm is not much difference ? or ...
Yes, in part it's because the fov between 61-84mm is not that different but you can also think of another parallel with car engines. Why are there not many engines between 2 liters and 2.4 liters? Or 3 liters and 3.5 liters? The choices are simpler; do you want fuel economy and better price or power? Yes, they could offer a compromise, but that option would probably be the least sold and expensive to manufacture just to have a third option.

For a first time buyer of cameras, it probably doesn't matter. But would you switch from one brand having a 50mm and an 85mm and the other brand with a 55mm and a 70mm? I would want apples to apples.

With the popularity of zoom lenses, especially the f/2.8 lenses, I think that there would be few buyers for prime lenses in that range. Since I have shot lots of paintings and other artwork for years I own 35, 50, 70 and 100 mm macro lenses. The 70 is a Sigma; all the rest are Pentax. All of them give excellent results with consistent sharpness and very low to non-existent distortion. It is interesting to watch what happens in Photoshop Camera Raw when you apply the lens correction filter--with these lenses virtually nothing happens. With my zooms, it is very different.
