Semi serious Question- How to Cure G.A.S

I don’t know about everyone else I sometimes find myself to have to much G.A.S that I don’t know what to do with myself. And sometimes I just feel it build up so much that I need a release. Does anyone have any tips on how they deal with their G.A.S as for me its urges may soon be pushing me over the edge?

Let me know if you find out....
Let's put it this way: I've been buying cameras and stuff since 1989. I've sold a whopping 2 cameras in my life; one last year and one last week.
I'm now considering selling duplicates or redundant. No need to have 6 K1000s. I think I can survive with only 5
You can start by selling those redundant items that are not been used. However, beware the money can easily go straight into G.A.S. again...

Thanks,

That's actually really pretty easy...

Only buy something... when your existing kit can't do what you need it to.

Ask the Harem.

Think about the image rather than the gear. Focus on getting the best possible image in the field and then the best result from development on the computer. That has largely helped with me. I've spent more time working on my skills rather than dreaming over a bit of gear that likely will not really make any difference to my skill level. I will still buy things, just got the DFA 70-210. And I still want a couple of Pentax-A lenses to add to my collection. But I have managed to get over the belief that buying a lens will improve my images.

I noticed that the less I shoot, the more GAS takes over. So for me, it's just using what I have and not worrying about gear. But sometimes it's interesting to try some things

There's only one way, and it involves people dressed in black looking sombre over a casket. . .

That about sums it up. Get a new lens, feel that your gear is complete for a while, enjoy shooting with what you have but feel something lacking when comparing to other pictures, wanting that one lens more and more, decide that you don't need anything else, buy the lens, rinse and repeat.

Sometimes just looking at what is offered on the (used) market makes me snag something if the price is right... I can prevent that by keeping busy enough so I don't even have time to keep an eye on prices, but every now and then in a boring minute I'll have a look anyway...

These things place a limit on G.A.S.:

-- Available funds
-- Available space on shelf/in bag
-- Realization that a tool unused is a tool wasted and too many of one's tools are languishing in dark corners unused.

So true! There are literally thousands of ways to great bokeh and probably just as many solutions that offer amazing optical performance for what is in focus. In my hands and for my creative intent, will a new D FA* 85/1.4 blow away either of my Tamron 90/2.8 (72B) or (coming in the mail) Tamron 90/2.5 (52B)? Probably not. OTOH, there is the matter that despite already owning the Tamron 90/2.8 (72B) there is the 52B coming in the mail.
