I don't think I've seen a single zoom where someone doesn't complain that it doesn't go wide enough.

My personal dream lens would be an D FA* 400mm F4 AW with high torque AF motor and Phase Fresnel lens.
Like a mix between Nikon AF-S 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR and Minolta AF 400mm F4.5 HS APO G.

The smc Pentax-DA 70 mm F2.4 Limited. For the simple reason that I have been able to acquire a hopefully minty-as-advertised copy of it on fleeBay, which should arrive at my doorstep tomorrow. Beginning to get really excited, given that I have wanted one of those since I entered into the Pentax system.

Update: Just received the said lens, and it's a beauty. First test images suggest that it delivers all the goods too. So glad I jumped on it.

Similar to your wish my would be the DFA 250-600mm f4 with Fresnel lens. But when I think of the price this would come…
So I better dream of a 2x teleconverter in addition to a DFA 300mm f2,8.

I may have already replied to this thread, but right now I'm looking at the affordable green star M 300mm prime. I mostly buy used manual lens....

Could be 1.2 to 2.3kg with phase fresnel lens.
Dream lens would include following technologies/features:
  • built-in hood
  • short minimum focus distance of 2.50m
  • focus limiter with 5 settings: 2.5-16m | 16m-∞ | FULL
  • Aperture Ring
  • Quick Shift
  • AF/MF/focus ring disabled Switch

I think internally zooming lenses might still suck in some air through one or both of the ends? Can someone verify this?
Then it would not be possible to make AW and WR lenses, right? As water can also flow along with air.

There are WR lenses that do zoom externally, and they do suck in air while zooming, so it's possible.

Or when focusing, like my DFA 100 macro does. But there is a special gasket which I think is able to hold water better than air, I agree. That is why I see micro dust particles in every lens if I flashlight through, no matter it is WR or not.
