A nice thought and I hope you get to do it and enjoy it to the most. I really have no suggestions of any kind but I like the attitude and perspective of the idea. Just wanna wish you have fun and good health to your family.

If you can find a camera club or camera shop or maybe even a professional photographer near your dad's home, email them a description of your goal and ask if they know of any photogenic, accessible barns.

Search Flickr or Google Images for something like "old barn knoxville tennessee" to find potential locations. Try different town names in the search.

I already found this Tennessee Barn Project | Tennessee Crossroads | NPT

Here's a few from around Clarkville, Tennessee
Moontgomery County, TN

This one in Todd County, KY

Another from Todd County

Close to Clarksville in Montgomery County, TN

Close to the Big Google facility in Clarksville

Another in Mongomery County, TN, close to Guthrie, KY

They are not all tobacco farms around Clarksville

I believe this the same barn in the first photo, tobacco curing has begun

I can’t answer for the barns as a subject but his mobility shouldn’t be an issue for extended trips. Accommodations for accessibility was taken care of by the Americans with disability act of 1990.

The photos from others remind me of the TV show “Barnwood Builders”

Starting from your Dad's home could you use Google maps and "street view" to drive around " virtually" before seeing your Dad?

So many supportive ideas! Thank you all. I have found a guide in western North Carolina and we will be talking. The other ideas are excellent and I’ll follow up on those also.

One note: ADA has been a great help to disabled people and the champion of that idea Bob Dole just passed away. I don’t give a flip where you fall in the political spectrum, or if you agreed or disagreed with his actions in other parts of his public life - it is hard not to respect that aspect of his legacy.
