AGE and GEAR!!!

How old were you when you first started using Pentax? Did you have any other systems? How has your gear changed through the years? Mine looks like this:

Age 21
- Pentax k5
- pair of kit lenses 18-55 & 55-200 ( I think haha)

Age 24
- Pentax K3
- SMC 50 f1.8
- HD DA 20-40 ltd wr
- Rokinon 16mm f2

Age 29 (current load out)
- Pentax k1
- DFA* 50 mm f1.4
- HD DA 55-300 wr
- dji mini 2
- GoPro hero 5

How time has passed and the kit has changed

Age 14: K1000, A 50/2 and a couple of house brand lenses (28/2.8 k 80-200).

Age 36: Kx, 18-55 & 55-300. Beginning of LBA.

Age 38: K-5, more lenses than I could ever use.

Age 42: K-3, Sigma 150-500 on the camera most of the time. Even more lenses.

Age 48: K-3 III, 150-450 and a ludicrous number of other lenses.

I was 28 when I bought my first Pentax camera (and it was my first real camera as well), a K100D. I'm 43 now and I've been shooting with the same K-5 II for the last seven years. I'm thinking of moving to the K-3 III sometime in 2022.

I have more glass than I care to mention. I've also stepped into film photography so I've effectively got two camera systems with a common mount (the Super Program I bought a while ago may become a bit of a bridge body between my manual film k system and my crop stuff).

I started with Pentax when the K10D came out as I needed one system for digital and film (Plus the K10D was/is an amazing camera). I was shooting events in both formats.

I won’t begin to try to count what I have had or have today…

Sure, at least it begins to feel too much...

Not counting the lenses, only SLR/DLSR bodies here:
At 18: ME Super
At 32: LX (in addition to the previous)
(kind of pause before going to digital)
At 46: K200D
At 49: K-7
At 50: K-5
At 52: another K-5

At 56: K-3

At 58: K-1
and still got and use the last three (almost planning for K-3iii...)

Definitely too much of both

Strangely it's only the age bit... that causes me any concern.

Actually, with the exception of a Pentax-M 50/1.7 that came with a Ricoh XR7 when I was 27. My first Pentax product was when I purchased a K10D at age 52 spring of 2007.

I think I was 24 when I bought my first Pentax (an S3 with 50mm F1.8 Takumar, secondhand). That was supplemented a year or so later when I inherited my father’s SV with prism-mounted light-meter.

After that, followed an ES, and then an ESII (which I still have). I don’t recall the years. I briefly had a Miranda, which was a nicely-made camera with a changeable prism.

A K2DMD (which I also still have) arrived when I was 33, and was my main camera until I bought my *istD, but I forget which year that was. I also used a Minox 35AL for ultra-light travel, and a Leica IIIf just because I could.

My birthday present to myself this year was the K-3iii, but in between were the K-5, K-3 and K-1.

I'm older than I was when I first started and some of my gear also; yes, I've used and will use other systems, and my gear once was and currently is in a state of flux and likely will be in the future, also.
