I would probably put my acquired Sigma 17-50 DC HSM as my best new piece of gear.

- Replaced my 11 years old HD display by a new 32" 4K display
- A new Pentax D-FA 70-210 F4 when it was on sale at a small discount
- A pair of cotton gloves for handling prints
- Two dozen of A1 silver prints mat and glossy finish

* Looked at the advertised new D-FA 21 LTD for its small size, BUT it's too expensive and I have way too many lenses and if I'd buy that 21 LTD I'd have to sell two other lenses to pay for it.

I bought a Pentax 10-17mm f3.5-4.5 HD DA ED Fisheye Lens early in the year. Undoubtedly, a super addition to my lenses. I'm well satisfied with the purchase.

Almost two years of working from home has allowed our finances to grow much more than normally. I'm not usually an early adopter but I splurged on the K3-III and then recently the DA* 16-50mm PLM (thanks to a 15% discount from DCexpert). I'm loving the K3-III experience and really enjoying pairing it with the 16-50mm.

I think I'm done with lens purchases for a while (though every now and again I gaze at the DA* 11-18mm with interest!)

Ponied up for a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED. Yes it is old, but the result I'm getting are phenomenal.

On the actual camera front, a couple of weeks ago, I bought a Pentax D FA 15-30, and a set of NISI filters for the thing. I'm planning on using that lens for the Single In challenge in January in prep for a trip we hope to take on April.

Early in the year I bought a new KP, to have a fully functional one since I broke the mode dial on my original KP. The good news it broke on Tv mode, which I mostly use for Wilde and birds. But another photography acquisition is not photography gear at all, it’s a Lifetime Tamarack 103 kayak. We live very near the coast and therefore a lot is Salt Marsh. Now I’m able to get out to places that would have been impossible without it. I researched the heck out of it before buying and got the most stable kayak I could afford. And it has a perfect space for my Pelican case. I only got it in October and have probably only been out 7 or 8 times, so I’m still learning a lot. It’s already produced dividends as I got closeup shots of a swimming marsh rabbit, I did not know they swam (makes sense as the live in the marsh) and seeing it leap into the waterways very cool.

I have not bought much this year, but have acquired a battery, charger and screen protector for my next purchase, a GRiiiX next year.

For me it was a busy year : I discovered pentax vintage lenses & the shops selling them around here. Most cheap, few a bit more like the M300mm* , the AFA 1.7x and the mirror zoom 400-600mm.
I was since long looking for a new long tele lens and found by accident a shop selling of its stock 150-450mm zoom for 3/4 of the normal price, kind of solved my decision problem.

No new cameras, lenses, tripod or whatever to mention, but a recent addition to the PC I built a few years ago is an M.2 SSD. I knew it was an option but had never got around to getting one, and gosh what an improvement on spinning, clunking platters it’s been! The wait for Windows to heave itself into readiness has been slashed and Photoshop is ready for post processing in no time.

This is a good topic idea. My favorite piece has been the Ricoh GR IIIx, I'm quite addicted to the GR cameras and 40mm is my favorite focal length. Mostly I haven't missed the 28mm version, which I sold to fund the new one, but my muscle memory definitely had to adjust to the narrower view. IQ is fantastic though, and the magic of having a normal, 40mm field of view in a tiny pocket camera is definitely worth it.
So do you prefer the 40mm lens over the 28mm one? I've used the GRIII and I'm very impressed and I'm wondering what people who have used both think about the IIIx.

This is tough because each has it's own reason to be at the top.

Cameras? I got my K-3 III this year (with my KP as a supplemental), that really took me to another level in my photography and motivation to get out there and shoot more. But I also picked up a Ricoh GR III Street Edition which is quite possibly one of the best Street Photography cameras in existence.

Lenses? I managed to end the year with the purchase of a HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6

I think above all of that, my camera BAG has brought me the most return on investment and overall motivation to shoot more. A good, high quality, bag is a game changer and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, HAHAHAHA!

DA* 300mm f4 with DA HD 1.4x teleconverter

For wildlife photography it’s simply the best.
