A blast from the past

Check out this article if you want to head back to the 1800s. Re-defines the "large format" term:

Amazing. Thanks for posting this, Jack.

I'm not sure which part I'm most impressed with... his camera or the darkroom RV bus

Most difficult with this sort of camera is to find suitable lenses. The 1000mm lens is a wide angle. For portraits, I'm not sure where to find an 85mm FF equivalent lens. f-number f100? Exposure times from seconds to minutes?

... and for anything requiring reasonable depth-of-field - landscapes, architecture etc. - movements for one or both standards become absolutely essential... as with any large format, but especially one this large

The article is interesting.

But I wonder why the website thinks I want to link to (or even have an account on) Instagram to see the pictures. This makes no sense to me.

Well, even at one exposure per day with his 32 x 48" plate, it is equivalent to more than 1536 (1:1) stitched exposures on a Pentax K-1. He's getting 32 x 48" mural print at full optical / chemical resolution, straight out of camera.
