Recently caught Spy Game with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt on the tube. Great flick. Pitt plays an agent with photography as a cover. One scene he appeared to be using a silver Pentax 6x7. Also used Leicas and Nikons so I guess they wanted to suck in as much sponsorship money as they could.

one of the best spy films that I liked. I always liked the name of the covert mission, which I think is the highlight of the entire film. actually I only noticed the Leica. never noticed that he switched cameras afterwards.

Antonio Banderas is playing a paparazzi using Minolta and Pentax gear.
Just saw this movie today and noticed the cameras - loaded the images directly to his computer but did not have a rear screen despite clear shots of the camera and strap. Perhaps a P1-P and FA 300-400 or similar silver zoom.

Just spotted one last night in the 2010 Aussie horror flick "Primal". One of the main characters was using a Pentax K100D. There were long closeups of it, too. Looked almost like a product placement.

Found this trailer for a new Aussie film called "Drift". Filmed in 2012 but set in 1972.

I cant tell if the big lens at the start is actually a Takumar 1000mm f8 or something generic but the camera I'm pretty sure is a Spotmatic II (it has hotshoe) and shows up again 1:08.

Warning: has a bit of viloence in the trailer but obviously its OK for youtube.

Not a Takumar 1000mm f8 - It looks to be a Soligor or Vivitar 800mm f8 (cheapie)

Below is a pic of the Soligor 800mm f8 which looks to be the same courtesy of mflenses forum

I haven't had a lot to do during the holidays so I have been watching a bit of TV. As I was flipping around the channels I happened to stop and watch a bit of the 1964 movie "A Hard Days Night" by the Beatles. I could hardly believe my eyes as I see Ringo sporting a Pentax SLR during one scene. It might just be a prop as he eventually dunks it in a pond taking a self portrait, but there it is for the world to see.

Has anyone else seen Pentax cameras used in movies?
George Harrison used a Pentax...think it was Spotmatic....saw a film with him using it in an airplane.

Fulltime Killer by Johnnie To, the professional killer O is looking through a camera with a massive lens. The lens is white and has in huge letters NTAX on it. (The E is in the shadows, can't be read).

I haven't searched this thread, so please forgive me if I am repeating something everyone knows. I just noticed that someone was using a Pentax (I think it was an SF series) slr in The Pelican Brief.

Not to hijack the thread... but forget the Pentax for a minute... I want to fly in a plane with windows that big! Dang sight better than the postage stamp windows we have now-a-days (I know, they didnt fly as high back then so could have bigger windows)...

It's the de Haviland Comet. Redesigned after the original square windows caused crashes from stress fractures at the window corners.

Are you sure it's a Comet? I flew London to Singapore and KL to London in a Comet 4 in 1959 and I don't remember the windows being as big. Mind you, that was a looong time ago and my memory isn't what it used to be

Also, we flew much higher than current jets seem to. 40,000ft.

Richard.
Wrong shape. I think it might be a Vickers Viscount. I built a 4-engined control line flying model of one of these back in the 60s.

Unfortunately, no. It was on TV, and I just happened to notice it.

So I gargle IMDB PENTAX (scanning the Internet Movie Database) and find:

PENTAX CHECK IN (2003) Europorn
PROOF (1991) Pentax gets company credit
THE BEDFORD INCIDENT (1965) Sid Poitier slings Pentax & Nikon
THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1994) a K1000 is visible
LOST IN TRANSLATION (2003) Pentax gets company credit
TERMINATOR 2 - JUDGEMENT DAY (1991) some Pentax visibility

Many of the 81 in-site hits point to PENTAX CHECK IN - I guess the cast kept busy. Meanwhile, IIRC Faye Dunaway slung a Spotty in 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR (1975) but I could be wrong. That happens occasionally.
Yup saw Terminator 2, its there towards the start of the movie when the two Terminators come flying out of the glass at the mall, its a SF?

I can't believe I've missed seeing one in 'The Shawshank Redemption' - its my favourite movie, I have seen over 100 times! K1000 seems abit late to be in the timeline of the movie (1976-1997 manufacture date)
