You can still buy a metal replacement foot.

Pity he is not using a Pentax AF200T or AF280T flash, but you can't have everything. I see that Vivitar 283 is suffering from its well-known broken foot syndrome*; the similar less known 285HV was a better unit (but had the same foot).

Back in the day, I broke more than my share of Vivitar 283 feet and cursed the plastic junk. But now I understand that a strong foot would have damaged my hot shoe or possibly the pentaprism. Since then I switched to Sunpak, upgraded to Metz, and now swear by only OEM flash units (like Pentax or Nikon Speedlite).

New Netflix Series

NetFlix just started a new series, "Devil in Ohio" and in the first episode a young girls is seen taking photos with a Pentax K1000 with a 50mm 1:2 lens. I paused the video and took the attached photo with my cell phone, didn't have my Pentax K-70 ready to go. The actress is holding the camera correctly, also.

Indeed. That's why I don't like attaching large flash units to the camera hot shoe. I prefer hammerhead units because they attach to the tripod socket. Unfortunately, hammerhead units have gone out of fashion (I think there is only one on the market today) so I use an old Sunpak 555.

He has at least a couple of Pentax DSLRs in the display backdrop behind him in most videos that I've seen. I don't watch the channel enough to know whether that's good or everything there is obsolete.

I note the spelling on the camera inserted an extra "x" though the logo/symbol appears close to accurate.

I think that was added in to avoid any trademark/copyright issues.

My thoughts were in that direction, also.

Reminds me of my first gen Minolta Maxxum that used overlapping XX like the Exxon oil company logo. Right around the time of the Exxon Valdez oil tanker disaster, Exxon sued Maxxum for trademark infringement (because you know, everyone confuses a camera with a gasoline product) and Minolta then had to change the Maxxum moniker on the camera to XX that weren't overlapping.

Anyone with a Maxxum with overlapping XX? Exxon's lawsuit made those Minoltas rare and more a collector's item.

I wonder if Asahi Pentax ever sued Pentacon (Germany)?

Watching Netflix, movie called Pixie, shows a quick scene of the character Pixie at her work desk a third of the way in. K1000 at her left elbow.

I recently watched this talk by Elspeth Beard who travelled by motorcycle around the world in 1982-84 and was asked about her photography. She used a Pentax K1000.

https://youtu.be/0ao1RM4phqE?t=3778

Her entire story is very interesting but I linked to the spot in her talk where she discusses her photography.
