Nominated for the rarity of such a site! How often do you a bat in broad daylight? How often do you see so many? Good eye!

I nominate this photo. So there is so much wrong with the technics used on making this image. It is not sharp where I want it. The fringing is horrible. Your used settings for camera are just not good. You should practice on your skills. I think for this f8 at least for this lens to be sharp and maybe even calibrating the lens on the K-5 to correct for front-focus is in place. But then again, what am I babbeling, this is just a wonderfull scene off batts.

Thanks for the nominations guys.

Perhaps I should have given a little background to this shot ... It was rapidly getting on towards dark and a colony of fruit bats were taking off on foraging missions. I was hopimg for a BIF (Bats In Flight ) shot and set the camera accordingly.

While swinging around trying to get a focus for a BIF shot I spied this mob out of the corner of my eye and thought "wow, this is almost like some weird Adams Familyish group posing for a formal family shot" - so, as their eyes were wide open and looking straight at me, I snapped a quick bracket of shots before they took fright and flew off.

TFL
