I don't think so that you NEED a new camera - the Pentax K-5II is a superb camera capable of taking your shots into galleries. Well - maybe not this one though - although there are some interesting points - I feel like shot is simple not sharp where it should be - if you look closely you will notice that the focal point is behind the subject - right to the elk there is a branch of a fallen tree that shows more definition and detail that the elk's head. Just some friendly critique few pennies worth so don't take too personally

Thanks Manntax for the tips I am new to the dslr world and trying to self teach myself how to use my camera off auto mode so I will take all I can get

Glad you are so keen to learn ! If maintained - this readiness will guide you through really intriguing and creative process ! I suggest that you try and select another photo for your submission - there is till plenty of time and you will be having more changes to get through to the round 2 with something in focus
