Fells and birches
Lens: 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Camera: K-5

A snowy winter vista taken in the fells around near the borders of Finland, Sweden and Norway in Lapland. Taken whilst on a ski trip, this shot personally justified lugging around the gear for the whole week. As always the harshly downsized doesn't really do the original justice.

Nominated! What a wonderful and contrasty B&W shot! I think using B&W here emphasizes the texture and beauty of the terrain. Well done!

Thanks for the nomination and also for the comments! One reason for my participation was also to get feedback from my pictures (seems it was a success).

I nominate this photo. Wonderful land! Can I have link for full-sized image? I'd like to put it among my wallpapers on my laptop.

Thanks for the nomination. What is you desktop resolution? I can give you a properly sized version (I don't have full image in the internet at the moment).

Continuing the background story of the picture a bit. The shot was taken from the top of a fell called "Pikku Malla" after some hours of navigating up the snowy slope. Me and my colleague were literally the first people to ski there since the last snow so there were no tracks and we made our own. The experience as a whole gave an intriguing sense of freedom and awe, skiing has rarely been so fulfilling (this picture was the icing on that cake).

I nominate this photo, great use of Black and White, the monochrome needs nothing else to paint this scene. The lighting is wonderful, and your photo makes me want to see this place with my own eyes.

Woow quite a story! I'm a bit jealous cause I love Nordic coutries and the idea of going out skiing and shooting landscapes like this amazed me. I have to go for a Scandinavian roadtrip sometime in the future .

I use full HD res. 1080p. nothing unusual
