A Hazy Day at the Grand Canyon
Lens: DA*16-50 Camera: Pentax K-5

You never know what magic will happen while watching the day go past on the rim of the Grand Canyon, even on those hazy days that are so common there.
I shot this one on May 8th, 2013 from Lipan Point. After sunset, I enjoyed the dark and lonely 3.5 hour motorcycle ride home.

I nominate this photograph. I like the sun's rays breaking through the clouds and reaching into the mighty Grand Canyon and the seemingly small Colorado River at the bottom of the canyon. The river seems so small, but the evidence of its power surrounds.

A fantastic capture - you've managed to achieve a really pleasing and interesting composition of mountains , clouds and sun rays - all sounds very common but your photo manages to show all these three common factors in an extraordinary scenic and appealing way ! I love the mountains entering the scene from the foreground up until the the middle ( and very far!) distance - they are making this shot works ! A nomination from me for sure !

I already left Arizona Dave praise for this photo but didn't know at the time how to nominate it. This is my NOMINATION. Beautiful work that requires knowledge of light and how to capture it in all its subtle nuances. This is a work of art.

I nominate this photo. Excellent detail, atmosphere & lighting. Magnificent tonal range and good job of not blowing out the highlights.
