Landscape In the Blast Zone

This was shot from Johnston Ridge in the blast zone of the May 18th Mt Saint Helens eruption. This was shot as a series of overlapping hand-held images later combined using Photoshop.

After compositing the image was cropped to a 1:4 panoramic format, minimally de-noised and converted to black and white with an adjustment layer. Color-to-monochrome rendering was adjusted and then came resizing and final contrast and sharpening for output.
