When the dust of autumn harvest fills the air at these latitudes, spectacularly rich sunset colors are available without even having to exaggerate anything in post processing.
A little atmospheric luck, the right location, and a good lens will get you started.

We tend to get a few evenings like this every year so it feels good when you're actually prepared to catch those few moments and take the time to do so. The rich colors make this one of my best sunset shots so far.

While that does look like ground-fog, it's pure dust; enough to make a person cough a lot.
You can't make it out in the photo but there's a gravel road in the foreground.
I set up and everything was nice but then a pickup truck zoomed along it at a good speed and raised an extra cloud of dust that just hung in the air for a long time.
I was hoping it would would settle enough to not detract from the image but it actually turned out pretty good at the point I took this shot, adding a little bit of depth to the scene.
