I have a bit of a mixture of feelings about this photo. On one hand hand I wish it was processed less aggressively - would be nice to see more mid-tones as the shadows are really pitch-black so to speak - also the distortions since it was shoot with wide angle ( if not super- wide ) have really made serious impact on the subject - but - I have to say that these two combined somehow works, in this case makes the subject being perceived as a master of a long-forgotten handicraft at work - with this dark touch it makes her work more of a mystery with touches of surrealisms - like those massive scissors at the very front.. I think I would prefer to see the warmth emanating from this photo and for that it would need to be shoot and processed differently. So for what it is - it's a good shot, although with some space for an improvement - I do like it overall and therefore I nominate this photo for a good start !

EDIT: If possible I would show a bit more space above the head of your subject.

There's so much to like about this image. The sewing machine wheel balancing the grandmother's face. The distortion of a wind angle lens working with the woman's way of sitting. The high contrast processing. The feeling of movement, of concentration, of experience. Enthusiastically nominated!

I really like this shot, because it tells a story that could be the story of many grandmothers. Tireless old school workers.
I nominate this photo because it has touched me, made me revise my grandmother. Great work, Soms
