Eduard Bohlen
Lens: Pentax 18-55 Camera: Pentax K100D

The Eduard Bohlen was a ship that ran aground off the coast of Namibia's Skeleton Coast on September 5, 1909, in a thick fog. Currently the wreck lies in the sand a distance from the shoreline. The ship was a 2,272 gross ton cargo ship with a length of 310 feet. In September 1909, it ran aground in thick fog and wrecked at Conception Bay while on a voyage from Swakopmund to Table Bay. This wreck is said to personify the loneliness of Namibia’s coast best. Its remains lie rusting in the sand, partially buried.

I love how it resembles the carcas of a huge insect.

I love it, but after staring at it for a while, I'm wondering what's going on in the sky behind it (the whitish bits that look like soap-bubbles). Kinda freaky in many ways...

The quality of the shot is breathtaking, the intricate subject matter, the light and the colour are perfect. When you look at a picture, you immediately think, how could I improve on this. I don't have an answer, it's so good. You've captured natural beauty at its best, the corrosion is magnificent, you are drawn to look inside, the colour of the decaying wreck compliments the surrounding colours.

Great pic, like a painting. How much post production have you done? Looks like HDR. Reminds me of films like Mad Max. Very dystopic! Nominated.

nominated, love the post-apocalyptic feeling of this and also its resemblance to a skeleton (like one of the large sandworms from Dune)
