It is not that great of prize & I cannot imagine that anyone would think it is
cheating...but, I cannot speak for any other.
For me, I think the controversy is over the fact that no single person has
given a name or a classification to the type of photographic
art that your portrait so brilliantly displays~
Computer Photography?
Net Photography?
Surrealist Photography?
It reminds me of the controversy & derision that arose when the Impressionists
started showing their work & it was widely panned~
& like the Realists or Romantics who feared that Impressionism would ruin painting
as an art form~what would they think of Pop or PostModern art?
There is room to express the artistry of every kind of manipulated photograph but,
I truly believe it needs a new classification....as a photography lover, I never want
to lose the awe & delight of a simple part of nature or human life, simply captured
& in some small way making our mundane lives a little more spiritual...
Well if you look up "When the Day's Work is Done" you will find a photographer from 1877 called Henry Peach Robinson who combined negatives to create images so its really nothing new and certainly not something new because of computers or photoshop since it was done in the days of darkrooms although the level of skill to do such a thing would have been much higher but then so would the simple process of taking and developing images too.

Everything in my image was made of photographs that I had took within the time line, nothing was computer generated (ie rendered or drawn from scratch) its just that these days computers are used to develop images and make things easier... if I was a photographer in the older days and skilled at darkroom developing I no doubt would have tried to do the same thing

I love all types of photography and ofc try to stick to the limits of different types of things or comps, like when I was taking photographs of different parts of a church for their website to show off function rooms (including using models and stuff to sort of act roles in the images) thinks were done to look as natural and true to life (well slightly better than life.. as we try to make things look their best) and wouldn't be adding in giant rabbits and such then but since the rules for this were no limits to post processing that to me said be as creative as you want so I used that to try do something different.

That's what's good about photography as a medium, it can be used to freeze snippets of time to show us things we could miss, to slow time down and see things in a new way or set up and be creative with lighting, make-up models and even post work to be creative and bring idea's to life.

I can't really draw, I'd probably suck at painting but with my camera I have a way to be creative and my only real wish is that I found it sooner in my life instead of my late 20's.

I seem to have forgot how to edit... but I do think the prize is pretty great, for me it would be such an upgrade over my k5 as it struggles in low light event work and the wifi tethering could mean I can hide it in places when being creative and the extra detail would be great in my studio.

I would love to buy one but having just opened my studio in January, four kids (with an awesome wife) and just after an op in hospital (so have to take it easy for 2 weeks) money wise things are pretty tight so while I don't think I have a chance to win I'm doing my best because I would appreciate it so much and it would be a good help for everything I do

I am familiar with his work~the majestry of Ansel Adams was created in the darkroom by dodging & burning.
He never stood on a mountainside and waited for that "perfect" image to suddenly appear, he did it all PP.
& so the debate continues~
I think your image is beautiful and as captivating as one of my favorites from round 1, where the photographer
pretended to lift the wall & sweep some dirt under it~
I still wish we could come up with a name for it~

That was't my image in round one , mine was the girl drinking tea in my nieces bedroom which sort of had a kinda Alice in wonder land type look to it due to the small size of the kids furniture

But the sweeping the dirt under the wall photo was pretty great

ahh right nvm, I read you wrong hahaha...

I was meant to take take it easy after my op (and getting took back into hospital after bleeding again) but I've been out shooting today for my friend, it was a christning I told him I would do a ages ago and didn't really want to let him down so I did what I could considering but I'm still full of pain killers and tired so sorry that I didn't take your post in correctly

Thank you and I'm glad you think the image is beautiful, its always nice when people appreciate what I do and If I can I like to try give a little back like the bts, or with lighting or any other help.

It would be good to think of a good name for that type of stuff but really composite photography is used quite a lot, some of it even mixes it up with CGI like 3d rendering.. Elevendy do some cracking stuff and while I wouldn't really call it photography if they are computer generating things and putting them into images they still use photography as part of there images and some are pretty sweet.

Cool.

If everyone used four votes, that makes ~13 votes per image on average.
