Pentax K-3 Contest Round 3 Voting

It's now time for us to pick the final winners of our Pentax K-3 photo contest. After this poll closes, we will know who'll be getting the K-3 and gift card prizes!

Photo gallery and round 3 overview:

Round 3 Photo Gallery

How will the overall winners be determined?
  • We will factor in the results of each round
  • The photographer with the highest overall score will win
  • Overall score = 0.2 * (round 1 nominations / # of nominations for highest-ranked image) + 0.5 * (round 2 votes / # of votes for winning image) + round 3 votes / # of votes for winning image
  • The maximum theoretical overall score is 1.70, attainable if an image were to win 1st place in all 3 rounds

Thank you Adam! You have put a lot of work into this, and for us it's great to have a chance to win that camera!

However there's two things that to me don't seem right.

1) Why are images in upright format only half the size of the ones in landscape format?

2) It said in the rules:

"Once round 3 closes, members will collectively rate all 3 of your submissions (round 1, round 2, and round 3), and the highest-ranked photos (combined) will be our winners."

and

"The round 3 voting post will include the following:

Your round 1 and 2 photos
Your round 3 photo (with a link to the unedited version)
Titles
Description (for the round 3 image)"

We decided to factor in the original results with a lower weight rather than letting them skew the final poll. Also, regarding the thumbnail size, you have a point, so I've updated them. However, this shouldn't make much of a difference since you have to enlarge each photo in order to appreciate it.

The level of awesomeness made the decision a very very tough, extremely pleased to see some of them had basically no editing whatsoever, this shows true talent in framing and capturing at the right settings. My personal fave is number 30, extremely lucky and great capture. I went 1, 21 and 30

Is it possible for you to add the description of each shot? I along with many others explained what settings were used to produce the shot and how much post processing has been done to the final image. Without the description it feels like people are voting more on what looks good, rather than voting on the whole "back to basics" theme.

Thanks!

As a finalist who took the theme - Back to Basics - of this round seriously, I'd like to know why this isn't mentioned as a consideration in the judging. What's the point of the brief if the voters don't have to take it into account when they make their judgement?

On reading the instructions for this round again it seems I have over-thought the theme. It does appear that Back to Basics was indeed the theme for the approach rather than the subject.

Apologies to anyone I may have insulted lately. (too many to name probably )

This has become a "Photographer's Contest" not a photo contest.
I wish that you had 3 cameras to give away because there were 2
clear winners~one from round 1 & one from round 2 and this all
seems so politically correct & not a true assessment of any of the
photos...just my 2 cents~except for that, it has been truly terrific
with some stellar shots & great imagination & inspiration~
