Macro Tripod or not... ?

I have found that for close-ups, handheld will work easily. for actual macro, with tiny tiny DOF, only a tripod will let me get the focus to the exact point I want.

Of course, it's much easier if you use a tripod that cna go low on the ground, and ideally a focus rail.
