My Favorite Macro shots so far...
Posted By: rp_dxn, 05-22-2014, 06:29 AM

Really nice to see a dedicated Macro section here in PF.

Here are my favorite shots so far in macro.
Most shots done with my ozum Pentax K30 - Pentax-M28/3.5 or Pentax-M50/1.7 reversed on extension tubes.
Got myself an auto bellows last few weeks, still waiting for my linear stage so i can do extreme macro.

Most shots are 2 images stacked except the first one..
I would gladly accept suggestions on how can i improve my shots. Thanks guys!

Great stuff. Extreme Macro is not a skill-set I posses, but I'm sure some others will be by.

Awesome photos. I'll be asking you for suggestions on how to improve. What was your lighting setup? Tripod? Handheld? I need to get a K-mount reverse ring.

rp_dxn! Your shots are amazing. Jumpers are tough to capture, much less at this distance. Well done!

You're asking us for suggestions?

I like the color effects. Was that done in post processing?

Sorry, man, I don't see any point where you could improve your macro shots, they are amazing already!
The #4 has an awesome background, you did great. Thanks for sharing!
I have an M 50mm 1.7, but never tried to reverse it for macro. After seeing your photos, I am definetely buying a reverse adapter to try it out.

You should be the one giving the rest of us tips! Do I understand correctly that you bring your colored paper into the field to serve as background? That seems like a great idea... How is the paper held up? (Or do you capture the spiders, bring them home, and later release them?) Do you use anything to help steady yourself?

It is not fair that OP put that awesome pics in first post.

But here is some my favorites:

In this one I was trying to use 68mm extension and 135mm+50mm stacked. I missed focus and it is under exposured. Not cropped.

Pentax K200D + Cosina 135mm stacked with chinon 45mm pancake + 68mm extension. more than 4x magnification I think. Unfortunately dof is too thin and it is not sharp but I like it anyway

The large bee fly - Bombylius major Pentax K200D + M40-80 + extension

.
Lens is reversed Cosina 28mm 2.8 and 68mm extension. No cropping.
