Really like the abstract macro in both those pictures. The tennis ball is timed perfectly to coincide with the U.S. Open.

How do you like that Tak 50mm macro? I have been eyeing it on ebay but really don't need one. I already have a 50mm A 2.8 macro that basically does the same thing.

Many thanks, yes I thought the US Open was a good time to post!

I like the Mac Tak very much. I only have the DA35mm Macro to compare at this shorter focal length, and the differences are what one might expect. The DA is 'digitally sharp' and colourful. The Takumar is also very sharp, and colourful, but produces a different rendering, with less coating, and more 'glow' to the images. Personally, I prefer the Takumar rendering, but it requires more post processing. The metering on the K-3 doesn't work well for close up objects in bright light, so it takes a lot more manual trial and error. My lens, a preset 1:1, cost around $100. Well worth it; beautifully engineered, a joy to use and highly recommended.

I used the lens for a Single In Challenge month, including this one below and here's my Flickr album for the Mac Tak if anyone is interested. www.flickr.com/photos/95859572@N06/sets/72157644855700903/

One of the first shots I took after I got my 90mm Tamron lens back from the store...

It may be a plant but it's not a flower...

And a shot from last week...

Perhaps this will qualify as an unusual macro shot. It's a burr that somehow found it's way onto a crocheted pillow cover.

I almost threw it away, then decided I'd like to see it close up and find out why they can be so hard to remove.

This may be the first and last time someone will take the time to stack one of these!

First image is the orignal 144 image stack. Second image is the burr cropped, then resized to meet 800 pixel requirements of the forum.

Probably my favorite part of shooting macro is finding interesting and unusual subjects to photograph. Post some of your favorites. Let's try to avoid the typical pictures of bugs and flowers in this thread!

I will see if I can get the ball rolling.

I like this thread. And really like the colours on the shot of the guitar tuner.
