Thank you ter-ror, I have seen you have uploaded some new pics on flickr. Some great stuff - as usual Especially the Halictus on the goadsbeard photo. Yeah, I am a sucker for pollen covered insects...

That must be one tiny insect to get lost in a dandelion bloom...

Great shot. Nailed the focus and framing!

Just the start of the season, looking at two new areas this year where I'll probably need to use the mosquito gear but I'm looking forward to seeing lots of good insects. I got out earlier this year and there are some really cool flowers - maybe I'll even find some of our native orchids, but I'll have to figure out what terrain they like.

Goatsbeard is a cool flower, the shooting stars are stunning too. Indigo is about to pop, as are spiderwort and penstemon digitalis, which was popular with the bumblebees.

Later in the season I'll see the tall dandelions which are always popular with all the pollen they offer.

I am a bit behind the curve. Dandelion is now in full power, but we still got tulips... last snow melted 4 weeks ago.. and weather on weekends was very disappointing so far. Still have high hopes for some Digitalis spots this summer. Hoping for some 'fat bumblebee stuck in Digitalis flower' shots. Spiders could be good this year. Already saw some nice ones at work.

Yeah, a delayed spring this year for sure, but everything is in full force now. And we avoided a late freeze, so the tree fruits should be plentiful. Soon it will be sour cherry pie season. And yeah, bumbles are all out at the same time - except the really late species. So far so good - and the dogs are busy chasing june bugs after dark.

No need to complain about wind. I'm surprised I got as many good ones as I did last saturday. A pleasing percercentage of keepers, fortunately. I like going there in the morning when it's cooler and the breeze hasn't picked up yet.

'cooler' means 4-5°C. There isn't much going to happen at that temperature. Well, the weekend is supposed to be nice and warm. I am cautiously optimistic.
