The focus clamp on the dfa100mm (earlier non-WR version) works for catch in focus. It might not be the most convenient as you'd want to disengage it whenever you wanted to turn the focusing ring.

the 100mm f/2.8 WR D FA smc is an excellent lens

Seems the 72B is very hard to find. But I've now learned the trick to using catch in focus with a AF lens, so I'll be checking out AF macros also.

agreed - I stumbled across mine on eBay; the bespoke hood can be even more so....

Btw, pepper, I got a PM from a member from the UK says he has a PKA adapter he could send me.....no cost shipping too. But I have to put a wanted ad in the wanted section and I'll have to wait until the 1st to do that.

that's a savings of at least $50.... and solves having to hunt one down....

Yes, on the second part but it's not going to be for free. I just didn't feel comfortable saying how much in this thread.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I found a Vivitar 90mm 2.8 macro in the marketplace. It does 1:1 and is manual focus, and will be the perfect companion to my Vivitar 55mm 2.8 macro. It's coming from Canada, so it'll be a while before I get to try it out.
