Can I review the DA 40mm Ltd? I will be receiving it shortly and I can't think of a better way to get acquainted with it.

I fully understand it is to be a lengthy review similar to that of the 18-135mm review.

Adam -- can you approve my lengthy review of the Samyang 85mm?

Also known as Rokinon, Bower, Vivitar Series 1, etc.
Yup, approved~

I don't envy you on this one Adam. You're really taking one for the team on this. I forsee you being inundated with standard two paragraph reviews. I don't know if everyone quite realizes what kind of review is expected of them here.

I was a bit dreadful until I saw that I have until February to complete it. I at first thought I had two weeks. I think it'll be fun, and I have ideas for the drop down photos and crop comparisons.
I've added a note to the top of this post. You're right - the quality has to be very high here, just like the contest we've posted ourselves.

Adam,

If I understand correctly, should we be ignorant of HTML we can create the review in DOC format, structure it as best we can and send it as well as the associated images clearly identified?
You would work your magic and make it presentable?

Also, for the technical portion, am I allowed to ask help from other users or does this have to be 100% me? (though they might not want to help me if they make their own reviews!)
One example is a picture showing the effect of mm per mm focal length that one FF member created. If I have this member's permission, it will help me demonstrate UWA compared to the kit lens that most people are well acquainted with.

Let me know.

Edit: I just realized I didn't post this in the correct thread. Can this be transfered to https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/holiday-lens-giveaway-2010/124662-read-fi...s-go-here.html?
Yes- I have predefined HTML styling that will work well on a DOC as long as you use uniform headings and clearly distinguish between sub-headings and main headings, etc.

You're welcome to consult other users.

We can do questions here, since this thread is more of a discussion (unlike the thread for 35mm submissions).

All other topics have been approved! Thanks guys!

Approved, but we'd expect at least one comparison to another lens here, preferably the 12-24mm.

I'll have to come back to you on that. I might not be able to participate then.
I don't have any way to access a 12-24mm or a Tamron 10-24mm unless I buy one. I'll see what I can do.

We could get B&H to do a equipment loan (your card is charged and refunded after you return the lens) for the purposes of the review. If you'd like that, let me know and I can contact them to work it out.

That might be an idea. We'll talk about it offline.

Somebody else has requested this topic, but there was some ambiguity, so it's pending. We're wait for them to respond and then I'll let you know in this thread if it's taken or not

I'm awaiting a response on that topic. You'd be the third in line.

An article on the Pentax FA 50mm f1.4

Article ideas/aspects:
- Photos of the lens in detail
- Various topic sections like you have in the 18-135mm review.
- Comparison to DA 40mm to see how it stacks up to a DA design (possibly also compared to the D-FA 100mm WR Macro as well as one or two 55mm M42 lenses)
- Considering short videos of say focus speed and AF sound (is hosting available or maybe youtube?)
- Sample images

Excellent proposition - approved! We can facilitate hosting of sample images, and videos should go on youtube.

Hi guys,

I've posted some guidelines on how to format the reviews: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/holiday-lens-giveaway-2010/124784-html-gu...l-reviews.html

If you're going to be writing yours in HTML, the PDF attachment in the above thread will help guide you along the way. It's actually a lot more efficient to write your entire review in a plain text editor, thanks to our easy styling/layout syntax (described in the PDF). Thus, I highly encourage this over just using word or openoffice to make a doc file (unless you don't know HTML). Full documentation on how to use our image comparison system is also provided

How about a review for the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) instead? It looks like there's no shortage of people interested in doing one for the K-x.
