Were you trying to pan this shot?

Sorry but the Pelican isn't very sharp so it kind of ruins the photo.

I'd recommend setting your camera to rapid fire when panning and then you have a better chance of getting a clear shot. If you feel like you can track it with center focus then use continuous focusing. Or if you have a feel for where the bird is goignt o pass in focus try manual so the camera doesn't jump out of focus. Play with the speed a little. Or if you were just trying to take a normal picture... lower your F stop to number to increase your speed. I really can't see any reason you had this at F22 and 400 iso?
