Some couldn't distinguish between summer and spring and some watered down flowers had too much water. If you're going to mist the flower get the whole plant and surrounding area not just the flower. These are things I learned entering contest. Make sure they fit the theme.

A little disappointed

Tons of great photos, but many just didn't say "Spring" to me. Many could have been almost any time of the year. Kudos on the photography but I'm only voting for 7 that struck me as especially good while sticking to the theme. That's NOT to say the other photos weren't good, they were but they just didn't say "Spring" to me.

About the Simple Machine.

That makes sense since you had stated "the season, not the simple machine" in the beginning of the contest, BUT What about the photos of spring flowers (or spring anything) that also happen to include springs(the simple machine) in the shot?

Ditto. I only voted on 6 for the same reasons, but with additional exclusions for crooked horizons and over-baked processing. There are some obviously nice images here, though. Props to those.

In Australia some places would look like summer, in spring.

spring

For me the best picture overall is the butterfly on the background of leaves. The best 'Spring' photograph though would definately be the shoot sprouting on the mud flat. I just wish they'd added extra depth of field to expand that mud flat. Beautiful pictures all round there so congrats to everyone that made the effort. Some great pictures.

Great Photos - It is always very interesting to see everyones interpretation of the theme.

I am noticing a lot of dialog regarding what is spring. Here in New England, spring is very different than in warmer climates. We do not see butterflies or blooms til mid summer.

My selections were based on the quality of the photo image and the composition.

The butterfly photos were great but butterflies are the last step of metamorphosis of the caterpillar so it wouldn't happen in the spring. Some of the flower photos, very beautiful but summer flowers. Tulips and daffodils are springtime flowers. Large fields of flowers you see in the summer unless they are hardy plants like daffodils and tulips. Fruit blossoms on trees you would see in the spring and buds, although I photographed buds in December which I thought was odd. Great photos but don't fit the theme. Homework, we must do our homework when we enter these contest.

IMHO Spring is a state of mind as much as the exact(?) time of the year. It can mean many things to many different people in many different countries.
These are all fantastic photos and definitely worth praise in the highest regard whatever the individual's ideas and global positioning may be in relationship to the season . (Ask me about winter sometime)
p.s.Up here in PA-USA the buds are on the trees, the daffydills are poppin, the crocus are coming out and the birds are chasing each other aroung like love-sick rabbits!

I disagree. Spring is considered by almost all to be the season of rebirth. Since butterflies are the rebirth of catepillars, they certainly can be considered to be spring. In addition, they are around in the spring. Here is a photograph of a tiger swallowtail butterfly getting a meal from a rhodendron which is a mid-late spring flower around here. I could certainly consider it spring.

BTW the photo was taken on 5/25/07 ...definitely springtime.
