The download is taking quite a bit of time on a slow morning. Any way to promote this in another way?

I believe the definition of a still life is: A painting or photograph featuring an arrangement of inanimate, everyday objects, whether natural or manufactured. The subject of a still life is anything that does not move or is dead.

Adam, curiosity killed the cat here, but I must ask.. why do the pictures for the "Still Life" contest show up viewable completely separate from the voting thread before voting is closed? I personally feel that it defeats the "anonymous" aspect of the contests, and promotes the "good 'ol boy" voting.

For what it's worth, I didn't vote for things that weren't "still." And even though I appreciate the time and work it takes to arrange some of these shots with various items, all my votes except one went to shots that at least seemed to capture items in their natural state... although arrangements that seemed be photographed such that I'd hang them on my wall also got my vote. Anyway, lots of good compositions, lots of good exposures, and a few pics that were great at both which got my votes.

We did filter out a lot of non still-life photos prior to putting up the poll, but it looks like a few did slide through the cracks. We will verify that the entry with the most votes indeed conforms to the theme prior to pronouncing it the winner.

If your photo was disqualified BEFORE the poll went up, check your e-mail inbox, as we send out e-mails to owners of photos that were automatically rejected by the system. Possible reasons:
-File too large
-Dimensions too large or too small
-EXIF indicates non-Pentax camera (sometimes scanned photos are thrown out in error; if this is the case, you will need to clear the EXIF manufacturer field and re-upload).

Some photos that weren't still life may have also been manually disqualified, in which case you would see a message in your submission thread.

Our system considers the most recent photo in your first submission thread. If you would like to change your official submission, it is enough to post it in a reply in your thread, or edit the first post. Don't start new threads, as they will be considered duplicates.
