Actually, thinking about this comment; for example, if the competition theme was 'portaits' I don't think it would matter if the subject was a relation of the photographer or not. In fact sometimes the 'relationship' the subject has with the photographer can be what makes a portrait brilliant, so I guess if it were the child of a photographer this
could be an advantage.
Also, I know a lot of photos I have taken that I think are terrific, is not necessarily shared by others - no matter what the subject of the photo is! - it's entirely personal.
