In July of 2010, my wife to be and I attended my sister's 10th wedding anniversary. Part of their 3 day(!) event, they had a bird show. The falconers brought out rapiers, hawks, owls, and so forth, allowing the birds to fly over the amused guests heads. The starlings and other native birds of course were complaining, that is until the pièce de résistance was brought out. Never saw a sky get cleared out so fast in my life.
Truly amazing to be so close, and to watch him (just a guess, and no, I didn't check) fly at head level between the falconers and between us guests. Unforgettable. | |
