Using a moderate telephoto lens the erosional decaying walls of Factory Butte in Utah create a landscape of patterns that take on an otherworld appearance. This image shows several hundred vertical feet of the dissection of the eastern escarpment of this massive butte. While it may look as though the image is manipulated in an art-like manner, I can assure that it is not. The greyish material is just the color you see it as and the area around the butte is devoid of plants and other acutely visible life forms.
