This photo was taken in Nikko, Japan. It was about midnight when my girlfriend and I drove past this bridge. We had passed it earlier in the day, and I had brushed it off as nothing much. Later that night it was an incredible sight with the strong back lighting, and the mist coming off the river. I later learned that the Japanese consider this a sacred bridge. According to legend, the hermit who settled Nikko was carried across the Daiya river here by two serpents. In feudal times, the sacred bridge could be used only by the emperor.
