Yes - a huge number of entries!

It would be great if we could also view thumbnails on a grid for easier side-by-side comparison.

And, having the voting check-box next to each pic would make things easier, too ! Just sayin'.....

Anyway, here are my thoughts on why I felt photo #228 was an appropriate submission to the "Sky" Photo Contest :

I am taking the position that "sky", at times, can be a relative thing; an expanse appearing to stretch from a far away horizon to high overhead.
The rock ceiling in my cave photo is the only "sky" this cavern has ever known, ever, for millions of years.

Truth be known, while framing this shot I did not think of the ceiling as representing a "sky".
But later, while reviewing photos for "The Great China Adventure Survivor's BBQ & Picture Show", I was immediately intrigued by the deep blue cast* of the ceiling in this shot, and how the rock grain resembles clouds sweeping swiftly by.

I do like your explenation. It does show, that people whould think more aoutside the box. And see that contest sky, doesn't have to be about the sky above us. It could also be an interpetation of sky. I have had this discussionabout the contest shadows. There were complaints that there were silhouets and not shadows submitted. But taling a silhoutte, you are photogrpahing the shadow side of an object. So think outside the box, you did, and for that you should already get points

PF Monthly Contests are un-juried and submissions are completely up to the whim or artistic vision of each photographer. The only time photos are excluded is when we discover a member is submitting multiple entries.

Submissions may be at the whim or artistic vision of each photographer, but they must fit the category. The sky should be the main focus of the photo, not just one element in it. Too many submissions just happen to have sky as part of the picture, but they in no way fit the category.
