This photo was taken by my daughter Sophia on her 9th birthday, February 1. She took this picture on a fast shutter speed of 1/100s but panned the camera a bit making a blur on the leaves to make it look like an oil painting. Sophia, 9 yrs old and her brother Moises, 16 yrs old are Pentax enthusiasts. For her birthday celebration, we went to Cebu where Pentax cameras are made. (We hope to drop by the Pentax factory tomorrow in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines before flying back to Iloilo City). Moises and Sophia decided to have a Pentax shot-out with me as judge. For her submission, Sophia stalked the extremely active maya bird (Philippine sparrow) at the Iloilo Airport and when she was able to nail a very crisp picture of a sparrow perched momentarily on an airport bench, she jumped for joy.The picture that I am submitting is her other 'entry' which are trees made to look like an oii painting. She took it when we arrived in Cebu, doing a motion blur on the leaves (no photoshop). For his part, Moises used a tripod and did a long exposure shot from our hotel room at Castle Peak Hotel to a street below to show car light trails and other elements of proper composition. Sophia used a Pentax K-01 with an 18-55mm kit lens to take her photos. Moises used a Pentax K-30 with 18-135 WR lens. They had a lot of fun. Before going to bed after our evening prayers, Sophia declared it was her best birthday ever. | |
