On November 11th 1920, the eternal flame was lit on the tomb of the unknown soldier beneath the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Here it can be seen burning on a cold December evening....the Christmas lights along the Champs Elysees (and the lights on La Grande Roue in the Place de la Concorde) can be seen in the background.
