Nice shot. Too bad street signs are considered by some thoughtless individuals as an invitation to test their shotgun's pattern spread.

When I saw the photo, I thought the same thing: it wouldn't be as interesting without the pellet indentations. I'm conflicted, however, as I find it hard to condone blasting public property for the sake of art and yet I have no problem photographing what we find.

Once again, I do like the photo.

Bullet holes in rural road signs is typical in western states. I hadn't thought of shotgun pellets. I was thinking .22s. Usually they're .45s! Thanks for your votes.

It is my understanding that shotgun shells loaded with double-ought buckshot typically contain 8 to 12 pellets depending on the manufacturer and the powder load. It looked to me like there were two shotgun blasts that made the grouping of the indentations so that's what instinctively jumped to mind. Once again, I like your photo. It has outstanding saturation and contrast and seems to fit this theme perfectly.

Happy shooting...photographically, of course!
