Gifts to my wife from her grandparents from when they worked and lived in Tehran. Don't think anyone will be drinking from the samovar but it looks great on a shelf.

just a comment that it can't be samovar as samovar means in Russian "self-boiler" and it looks very different

Nominate. I like the detail and color of the image. And to tungal, Persian samovars look just like that. See that rippled plate it's sitting on, under it is legs and a burner, which makes it a self contained boiler. Now as it is being considered "junk" it may be missing the legs or burner, but none the less a samovar.

MorganL - thanks for nomination and save on the samovar. My wife's family picked it up in Iran. The back side is cracked and the unit (which as you noted has a burner beneath it) doesn't work. The detail in it and in the platter make it a fun photography object.
